Family Devotional Guide - 3/7/21

Updated: Mar 9, 2021

Day 1

  • Scripture: Psalm 2:1-3

  • Discussion: This psalm, our Scripture reading for March 7, opens with a question: “Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?” There is a real sense in which the psalmist’s question is likely rhetorical. The psalmist is pointing to the incredulity, insanity and futility of opposing the Lord. Who would even think of attempting a coup against the Almighty? As we consider such a question, how would you explain why many still oppose the Lord in futile opposition in our time? How do we see this rage playing out in our day?

  • Song: “Jesus Is Lord” Keith Getty & Stuart Townend

Day 2

  • Scripture: Psalm 2:4-9

  • Discussion: The Lord responds to the incredulous question of v. 1 and their rebellion in vv. 2-3 with laughter. Discuss the meaning of God laughing at their rebellion. What does God inform them regarding His decree in vv. 7-9?

  • Song: “He Is Lord” by Claire Cloninger, Linda Lee Johnson & Tom Fettke

Day 3

  • Scripture: Psalm 2:10-12

  • Discussion: This psalm ends with a warning as the Lord tells kings and earthly rulers to submit to Him. Spend some time praying for the governing authorities in our city, county, state and nation as well as those in authority all over the world. Ask the Lord to cause them to submit to His will.

  • Song: “O Worship the King” by Johann M. Haydn & Robert Grant
