Pastor's Blog: "Teach Us to Pray"

YOURS FOR JESUS’ SAKE … A WORD FROM BROTHER TOM ….

Teach us to Pray

I am looking forward to Sunday! I am praying for the lost to be saved and the saved to be sanctified! Will you make every effort to be present for worship this coming Sunday? This would be a great Sunday to invite a lost friend or family member to join you. We will be preaching on the Great White Throne from Revelation 20 – what will the judgment bar of God hold for those who in this life reject Him?

One of the great tragedies of our day and age is that so many people, even good, church-going people, think that they can get into heaven by being a good person. That is man’s way of salvation. God’s way means coming on His terms and in His time. We’ll say more about it on Sunday, don’t miss it.

On Wednesday, September 4, we started an important study on prayer. We will be using the book, “How to Develop a Powerful Prayer Life,” by Dr. Gregory Frizzell. This book revolutionized my prayer time; I believe it can do the same for yours. Prayer is the key to turning around our church – please join me for this great study. The books are available for a suggested donation of $5. We will have the second lesson on September 18.

The disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray. I would surmise that you learn to pray primarily by praying! Talk to God in prayer; listen to God through the study of His Word.

Sunday night activities start in October, more details to come. On October 20th we will start a seminar called, “Understanding Your Motivation for Ministry.” This is a study of the Spiritual Gifts, based on my book, “Your Reasonable Service.”

COMING - October 26 & 27, GOING DEEPER WITH GOD CONFERENCE, with Dr. Gregory R. Frizzell! Please set these dates aside on your calendar, plan to attend and please be in prayer. Saturday, dinner at 5:30 and Session 1 at 6:30. On Sunday during SS we will have Session 2, Morning Worship at 10:30 will be Session 3, and Sessions 4 & 5 will be at 5:30 Sunday evening.

Blessings, YFJS, Bro Tom
