Day 1
Scripture: Philippians 1:1; 1 Corinthians 1:2
Discussion: In the passages above, the apostle Paul refers to saints. In 1 Corinthians 1:2, he refers to the church and clarifies what he means by church: “those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus and called as saints.” So, the church is a body of those who are sanctified (set apart) in Christ. Why is it important that church membership be made up only of believers? What is the danger of accepting unbelievers into church membership?

Day 2
Scripture: Philippians 1:1; 1 Peter 5:1-5; 1 Timothy 3:1-7
Discussion: The word overseer is synonymous with the term pastor, and our modern term pastor comes from the Latin pastor, which means shepherd and also describes what they do, pastors shepherd. Spend some time praying for your pastors and ask the Lord to help them shepherd faithfully. Ask God to help them be holy men, wholly dedicated to the Lord, fulfilling the qualities laid out in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

Day 3
Scripture: Philippians 1:1; 1 Timothy 3:8-13
Discussion: Deacons are a gift to the church. Spend some time thanking God for each of our deacons by name. Pray that the Lord will help them grow in holiness and wisdom as they help our pastors carry out the work of ministry, and encourage them in the selfless work they do for TBC.
