Resources for Spiritual Growth

Our goals as a church are expressed in our motto:

  • God-glorifying

  • Bible-Centered

  • Disciple-Making

We long for our church and its members to glorify God, to center our lives on the Word of God, and to be discipled ourselves while making disciples.

Being a disciple simply means knowing and studying the Word of God (the Bible) and living according to its precepts.

With that in mind, our ministerial staff have curated the following list of resources for you to grow in your walk with the Lord in the categories of Bible study as well as other spiritual disciplines of the Christian life. If we can answer further questions, please feel free to email us.

In addition to the list below, one great general resource on the spiritual disciplines is Dr. Donald Whitney's Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life. This book is a great overview to the different aspects of Christian living.

  • M'Cheyne Bible Reading Plan - This plan features selections from the Old & New Testament and is the one presented on our social media accounts every Sunday. This plan will take you through the whole Bible in a year.

  • Discipleship Journal Reading Place by The Navigators - This plan divides the Bible in 4 selections each day (2 from the Old Testament, 2 from the New Testament) for 25 days a month. Bro. Tom uses this plan in his own daily study of God's Word. One of the features of this plan is its division into 25 days to allow for the occasional "catch-up" days, as needed. Click here to order paper copies in packs of 25 to use and give away.

  • YouVersion Bible - This is one of the most popular Bible apps. It includes many translations and built-in Bible reading plans.

  • Logos - Logos is one of the most powerful Bible programs available. Basic functionality is free, but the power in this program comes from commentaries and books available for purchasing that are indexed and searchable. All of our pastoral staff utilize this resource.

  • The Study Bible - This app by John MacArthur of Grace to You ministries provides the contents of Grace to You resources as well as the option to purchase The MacArthur Study Bible for only $5.99. Dr. MacArthur has a track record of decades of faithful Bible exposition, and this app is an amazing resource at a great price!

  • ESV Bible - The ESV Bible app is a great resource featuring the ESV translation. It also has translations available for purchase, including the ESV Study Bible, one of the most in-depth study Bibles available.

  • Note taking apps: Prayer is very simple, in many ways, so the main thing you might want to use is an app for taking notes and keeping up with prayer concerns. Any of these note-taking apps should prove helpful: iPhone Notes app, Evernote or the iPhone Pages app or Microsoft Word app.

  • Returning to Holiness - Bro. Tom has used this book by Dr. Greg Frizzell in men's ministry Bible studies. Dr. Frizzell digs deep into spiritual issues and sins of the heart. This book is life-changing!

  • Holiness - This classic work by J.C. Ryle is a powerful work that has stood the test of time and will help you grow in personal holiness.

  • Devotionals - Two recommended devotional books are the classic works My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers and Morning and Evening by Charles Spurgeon. They have been used by Christians for years and have benefitted many.

  • Knowing God - J.I. Packer's book digs deep into theology but with a heart for application. It's a great starting point for growing in theology, which itself is the "study of God."

  • Basic Christianity - John Stott's work also serves as a great introduction to Christianity and its teachings.

  • Counseling Children about Conversion - Bro. Tom has written this helpful booklet about leading children to saving faith in Jesus Christ. This booklet is the fruit of years of pastoral ministry, and we trust it will be helpful to you.

We will continue adding more categories and resources, so this is a work in progress.
