Discussion: In this verse, Peter calls us “sojourners and exiles.” How might viewing ourselves as sojourners and exiles impact our behavior? What does this status tell us about ourselves and our relationship to the world?

Discussion: Peter tells us that we are to “abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.” How is that command connected to our identity as sojourners and exiles? What danger is there in being too closely aligned with the world?

Scripture: 1 Peter 2:12
Discussion: It is easy to forget that our personal holiness (or lack of it) impacts our public witness. Spend some time praying for strength to live a holy, godly life. Ask the Lord to use your public witness to reinforce the gospel that you verbally proclaim to others. Ask for the Lord’s forgiveness for specific ways that your life might undermine the gospel message you share with others.
