Family Devotional Guide - 9/27/20

DAY 1

  • SCRIPTURE: Daniel 5:1-4

  • DISCUSSION: King Belshazzar committed an act of grievous sin against the Lord by taking the items used in the worship of our Lord in the temple and using them to get drunk and praise false gods. How might we see the things of God being used to mock Him today? How should we respond?

  • SONG: “Give Us Clean Hands” by Charlie Hall

DAY 2

  • SCRIPTURE: Daniel 5:5-9

  • DISCUSSION: Belshazzar, like King Nebuchadnezzar before him, sought pagan means of insight. Much like his predecessor, Belshazzar discovered that he was unable to find the answer he sought from pagan sources. In what ways do we see others seeking pagan means of wisdom that ultimately prove fruitless? Are there ways in which you do not seek the wisdom that comes from God? What will you do to change that?

  • SONG: “Speak, O Lord” by Keith Getty & Stuart Townend\

DAY 3

  • SCRIPTURE: Daniel 5:10-12

  • DISCUSSION: Once again the Lord brings His servant Daniel into the situation. Daniel’s wisdom, insight and reputation were still held in high regard. It may be that the Lord has you in a position of authority to provide insight to unbelievers in need. Spend some time praying that the Lord would give you wisdom and insight and the ability to walk humbly and righteously and maintain a godly reputation. Ask the Lord to assist you in helping others by providing wisdom from God’s word and a godly influence.

  • SONG: “Make Me a Blessing” by Ira B. Wilson & George S. Schuler
