Introduction:

Recall the three essentials from 2:1-2:

1. God's Goal: is PERFECTION, no sin.

2. God's Grace: there is PAYMENT for sin.

3. God's Goodness: we have POWER over sin.

-There are three major applications of this Scripture (2:3-6).

ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH YOUR LIFE? (Cf. Phil. 1:6)

I. The Will of God Ought to be Your DESIRE (vv. 3-4)

"If we keep his commandments."

APPLICATION:

1. A Desire for Spiritual Growth.

2. An Understanding of the Standard.

3. Honest Examination and Sincere Effort.

II. The Word of God Ought to be Your DIRECTION (v. 5)

III. A Walk with God Ought to be Your DELIGHT (v. 6)

APPLICATION:

1. Joyful Participation in the Things of God.

2. Excited Anticipation for the Things of God.

SAVED PEOPLE HAVE A HEART FOR GOD! DO YOU?
