INTRO

  • We all need reminders. How to live, what to do.

  • We can learn from Peter the person.

  • First Peter was a Servant of Christ. v. 1. Position and Service.

  • Encouraging and equipping others to daily live for Jesus Christ.

  • Christ changed Him. He knew it. He wanted his life make a difference.

  • He devoted His SAVED life encouraging and equipping… LEAVING A LEGACY.

His Passion For Serving Christ – v. 12a

Therefore. The previous verses

  • God had given us all we need.

  • Make every effort to supplement these things

  • Confirm your calling and election.

  • Do these things and never fail

  • Live life in the Kingdom

I Intend always

  • Consider Pete’s life.

  • His past. His failures. His disobedience

  • His ministry. The blessings of faith and obedience

  • He was feeding the sheep. John 21:15-17

His Understanding of Spiritual Maturity – vv. 12b-13

Remind you of these qualities

  • Timeless truths. His Words

Know and established in the truth

  • The foundation is there. The Gospel

  • We are saved. We have all we need…

  • But, we must grow and beware of the world

Stir you up by way of reminder

  • Shake. Provoke an action

  • Preach, Teach, Share (Love, Feed, Guard, Guide)

  • With words and actions.

His Desire to Leave a Legacy – vv. 14-15

Putting off my body soon

  • A tent. Used for a purpose, Then put away

  • A season. A time.

  • John 21:18-19

I will make every effort

  • Conviction

  • Process/Strategy

  • DOING

So that, after my departure recall these things

  • His words. His character. His concern.

  • Memory or a legacy (fleeting or lasting)

The What Now

  • God has given us all we need. No more excuses. (Saved and set apart)

  • We need to take responsibility for our own lives and the lives of those within our God-given circle of influence.

  • What do we want to leave behind? What lies in our wake – a memory or a legacy? POINTING PEOPLE TO THE HOPE ONLY FOUND IN CHRIST
