Pastor's Blog: A Grateful Pastor

I have been overwhelmed at your kindness and love during these recent days. Your calls, texts, cards, flowers, and gifts have been a comfort and blessing to me and to my family. Your continued prayers are much needed and will be greatly appreciated. I am most grateful to be the pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

It was a great joy to be back in the pulpit on Sunday and I believe our series in the Book of Daniel will be a great help as we continue to revitalize our church. Remember, sermon notes are available online, and printed copies are available in the foyer area. I will look forward to being with you again on July 26 as we start looking at Chapter 2 in Daniel. Next week, July 19, I have a previously scheduled Bible Conference at Liberty Baptist Church in Hartwell and Brother Landon will be preaching again at TBC.

We had tentatively planned to start Sunday School back on August 9. That date is now pushed back to September 13. We will assess the situation more closely as we draw nearer to that date. As is the case with our in-person worship, we want you to come back as you determine it is safe for you and your family. For now, morning worship on Sunday and prayer meeting on Wednesday are the only in-person opportunities we are offering.

I was so pleased with the unified response to the recommendation of the Finance Team and Deacons to sell the church lake property. While this was a difficult decision, it is one that is critical to our revitalization process. Please be much in prayer as we put the property on the market for sale.

We have decided the best way forward, for the time being, with our MFL Men’s group is to do it via Zoom each Sunday night at 6:30 pm. Our study of J.C. Ryle’s book, Holiness, will be a great blessing and I want to encourage all of our men to participate.

I am looking forward to being with on Wednesday night in the worship center for our prayer service which we will also stream live on Facebook at 6:15 pm.

As always, I am looking forward to what God will do at Tabernacle this coming Sunday. Please be present with your Bibles in hand as we worship the Lord together – once again, in-person!

Blessings, YFJS, Bro. Tom
