Pastor's Blog: Life of a Pilgrim

We were blessed beyond measure with Pastor Landon’s excellent message last Sunday from First Peter 2:11-12, “The Life of a Pilgrim.” The links to the message are available on our website, but you can go directly here: https://www.tbcmacon.com/sermons. If you missed this message you need to hear it. Thank you, Pastor Landon, for your faithfulness to preach the Word with power, conviction and in truth.

Next Sunday is Mother’s Day. The standard joke among preachers regarding Mother’s Day and Father’s Day is that we honor Mothers for how much they do (and that is true) and we blast Dads for how badly they fail (and sometimes they do). But on both of these days we should focus on the family, which is best suited when there is both a Mom and Dad working together to follow the Lord and serve each other and their children for the glory of God. I will, Lord willing, bring a message titled, A Godly Influence in the Home,” from Genesis 18:19. I venture to say it may be your first Mother’s Day message from the book of Genesis! Please take note of my three main points:

I. DETERMINATION - TEACHING YOUR CHILDREN

II. DILIGENCE - TAKING HEED TO YOUR OWN SPIRITUAL LIFE

III. DEDICATION - TRAINING YOUR CHILDREN

We will continue our study of the Bible through expository preaching of the Word, line by line and word by word. Our next book to study will be First John and, Lord willing, we will begin that on May 16. Please be in prayer for this new series in a most important New Testament book.

We will be making some changes to our Wednesday evening schedule. Please consider the importance of our midweek meeting and begin making plans to get back to the Lord’s house for a midweek recharge. We will move to a worship service format on May 19 and be changing the starting time to 6:30 pm. We will begin preaching from the book of Hebrews when we make the change. Hebrews is an important New Testament letter from which we can learn much about the character of our Lord Jesus Christ, the plan of redemption, and the call for faithful discipleship in the lives of believers.

I would appreciate your prayers as I undergo a minor outpatient surgery on May 12. As always, I am looking forward to what God will do at Tabernacle this coming Sunday! Please be present with your Bibles in hand as we worship the Lord together!

Blessings, YFJS, Bro. Tom
