Pastor's Blog: Prove the Tithe Month!

We have, I trust, learned something of God’s plan for our financial stewardship, both in our personal lives and for the church. Our Sunday morning two-part series on stewardship is complete, and if you were unable to attend, I strongly encourage you to go back and listen. You can do that here.

As a follow up to our stewardship messages, the finance team has recommended that we have a “Prove the Tithe Month!” I have said it often, “If every member of the church were to tithe, we would never have a financial issue or problem.” If all tithed, the truth is, the biggest problem for the finance team would be determining where to utilize all the money for the best possible benefit to the Kingdom’s work.

What would our budget look like at Tabernacle if every member were to tithe? I hope you accept the challenge to be a tither for the month of March. This is the one area where God Himself has made the plea, “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it” (Mal 3:10). Let’s take God at His Word and try Him in this!

There are so many great things happening at Tabernacle, visitors are coming, God is blessing, hope is rising. It’s a great day to be a member of TBC! Please read carefully your bulletin, follow our posts on Facebook and share them, be present in your place on Sunday and Wednesday. Above all, invite people to come with you to church. The number one reason, by far, that individuals visit a church is that they were invited by someone else.

This Sunday I will be bringing a very important message from Philippians 2:1-4, titled, “Attitudes that Achieve.” How is your attitude toward the things of God, toward the church, toward your fellow believers? Is your life marked by humility or selfishness?

Pray, prepare, and proclaimthe 3 p’s of getting ready for worship. Pray for the service on Sunday, pray specifically that God will show up and show out. Pray for the worship leadership, the preaching and the souls who will be present to hear. Prepare - get ready on Saturday evening, get a good night’s rest, and get up early, ready to worship the Lord. Proclaim – the message of the gospel to the lost, and invite them to join you at TBC. Tell your family, your friends, yes, even your enemies, that your church is great place to worship and learn about the Lord.

As always, I am looking forward to what God will do at Tabernacle this coming Sunday. Please be present with your Bibles in hand as we worship the Lord together.

Blessings, YFJS, Bro. Tom
