True Greatness (Luke 22:24-30) - 2/16/25

INTRO

• Jesus has just shared that one of them would betray Him.

• They immediately begin to argue about greatness.

• At the most intimate of times with Christ, their motive is seen.

• These verses teach us  what true greatness looks like.
  

Greatness is not found in the ways of the world – vv. 24-25

The betrayal of Judas and the dispute of the disciples.

• Who is the greatest

Jesus response it to remind them of the thinking of the world

• Authority, Power, Popularity

• Success comes in prestige

• Benefactors – celebrated themselves and was publicly celebrated

They were not thinking like disciples

• Mouth is an overflow of the heart. Luke 6:45

• Had they forgotten their calling. Matthew 4:18-22

Greatness is found in Jesus Christ – vv. 26-30

We can observe His life as an example to follow

Greatest become youngest

• 1 Peter 2:21

• Position, Responsibility

• Humble, Learning

Leaders as servants

• Leadership is not based solely on activity

• True leadership will involve others. Investing, Pouring into

• John 13:12-17

As we follow that are blessings now and, in the future,

Perseverance through trials

• Luke 9:23; Galatians 2:20

• They showed they were disciples because the continued on in their calling.

Fellowship in the Kingdom

• Disciples then Ephesians 2:20

• Disciples now
