Family Devotional Guide - 11/7/21

Day 1

  • Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:26-28

  • Discussion: In the opening verse of this section, Paul writes, “For consider your calling, brothers.” He then proceeds to write about how many of them had humble beginnings with the implication that the message of the gospel makes all Christians less respected by a lost and dying world. How might God use our lowliness for His glory? How might the gospel being despised by the world serve to bring glory to God and be used to save sinners?

  • Song: “Have Thine Own Way” by Adelaide A. Pollard & George C. Stebbins

Day 2

  • Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:29

  • Discussion: What does the Bible have to say about arrogance and pride? Why is it significant that we should not “boast in the presence of God?” What are some reasons we have to be humble and lowly as followers of Jesus Christ?

  • Song: “Nothing But the Blood” by Robert Lowry

Day 3

  • Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:30-31

  • Discussion: Spend some time discussing what it means that Jesus Himself has “become to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption.” How does the gospel message and what Christ has accomplished for us lead us to boast only in the Lord?

  • Song: “All I Have Is Christ” by Jordan Kauflin
