Family Devotional Guide - 11/8/20

Day 1

  • Scripture: Daniel 7:1-8; Psalm 139

  • Discussion: As Bro. Tom has noted, the 7th chapter of Daniel functions as prophecy that became world history. God was showing Daniel the kings and kingdoms that would rise up. What does this tell us about God’s sovereign rule over the nations? How would you respond to someone who rejects the idea that God sets us kings and empires and/or that God cannot know the future (as some false teachers called Open Theists teach)?

  • Song: “Lord Most High” by Don Harris & Gary Sadler

Day 2

  • Scripture: Daniel 7:8; Psalm 2

  • Discussion: In Daniel 7:8, the vision ends with “a mouth speaking pompous words.” Later in the chapter, God confirms that the pompous words are spoken “against the Most High.” Spend some time in Psalm 2 and notice how the Lord responds to the arrogant kings of the earth who plot against the Lord.

  • Song: “Rejoice, the Lord Is King” by Charles Wesley & John Darwall

Day 3

  • Scripture: Proverbs 30:5; Psalm 12:6

  • Discussion: Much of the book of Daniel, including this 7th chapter, includes prophetic passages that foretell historical events. In each instance of prediction, the Bible speaks accurately, pointing to the truthfulness of God’s Word. In addition to the Scripture passages above, what are other passages that speak of the truthfulness of Scripture?

  • Song: “Ancient Words” by Lynn DeShazo
