This week’s Family Devotional Guide is based on our Scripture reading for Sunday, Matthew 15:10-20.
DAY 1
Scripture: Matthew 15:10-12
Discussion: Describe in your own words the command that Jesus is giving in verse 10. How does His teaching compare with the Pharisees, and why were the Pharisees so offended (v. 12)? What does this teach us about personal holiness as followers of Jesus?
Song: “Take My Life (Holiness)” by Scott Underwood
DAY 2
Scripture: Matthew 15:13-14
Discussion: Upon hearing that the Pharisees were offended, Jesus in essence pointed to a future judgment that awaited the Pharisees. What does this tell you about Jesus’ view of teaching others? How should this inform us in teaching roles that we may have (whether formally or informally)? What other passages speak to the importance of teaching the Bible correctly? How can we make sure that we are not “blind guides” leading others astray?

DAY 3
Scripture: Matthew 15:15-20
Discussion: What is the source of sin? In other words, where does sin start in each person? Spend some time discussing what Jesus is teaching here about the root of personal sin. Go before the Lord in prayer and ask for His help in getting to the root of any indwelling sin in your life.
